Our client needed to understand the nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities (DIRO’s) associated to its global supply chain that sourced from well over 100,000 farms. Whilst the client was advanced in its decarbonisation, modern slavery and regenerative agriculture agenda, it had done little to understand how it interacted with the wider natural environment and how that affected its business model. Our challenge was to understand the businesses relationship with nature and develop action plans that drive value for the business, the planet and people.

We worked with our client to conduct a regional impact and dependency assessment of its global supply chain (covering over 100 regions). We used these findings to inform deep dives into material issue areas and to support nature-related risk and opportunity assessments. We are now working with the clients to convert these insights into action plans that can be used by the wider business and be replicated across other commodity lines.
(1) Supply-chain understanding of material nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities. (2) Actionable insights that protect and restore nature whilst mitigating risk. (3) TNFD alignment for reporting.
